Mainframe Industries - founded by former CCP, NextGames and Remedy devs - raise €2m
Mainframe Industries, a new, Reykjavik-based but pan-Nordic gaming company, has raised €2m (~$2.2m) in seed funding to build what they describe as “the first MMO specifically developed for cloud platforms.”
“The creative and business opportunity that cloud gaming brings to social and immersive online games is unlike anything we’ve seen on the screens we play on today,” said Thor Gunnarsson, co-founder and CEO. “We’re incredibly excited to announce our air bridge across the Nordics, having assembled a founding team with the AAA, MMO and mobile pedigree needed to build the game we’ve been preparing for our whole lives.”
Investors in the round include Maki.vc, Play Ventures, Crowberry Capital, and Sisu Game Ventures. Following the investment, Hekla Arnardóttir of Crowberry and Harri Manninen of Play Ventures joined the board, with Samuli Syvähuoko of Sisu Game Ventures becoming chairman of the board.
