Dating app The One raises $210k angel round
The One, a dating app emphasising on its users getting to know each other, has closed $210k (27m ISK) funding. This is the second fundraising of the startup in a short time as they raised $118k (15m ISK) six months ago.
The One was launched six months ago and has taken drastic changes since then. “On Valentines Day, the 14th of February, The One released a new update for the app, and now we’re finalising our second fundraising, from both new and existing investors,” said Davíð Örn Símonarsson, CEO of The One, in a statement. “This funding will secure the operations of the startup for the rest of the year 2020, as well as the development of the app,” Davíð adds.
Amongst new investors are Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP, Sigurður Ólafsson, former board member of CCP, and Ville Laakso, a Finish investor.
“The year is going great for us so far, the new update seems to be a great success for our users, and we have a lot of exciting things going on for the next few weeks and months,” says Davíð Örn Símonarson.
The One is a conversation-first dating app where users get one tailor-made match every single day, and have a few hours to chat to see if they are interested in each other, otherwise the match disappears forever. The app is available both for iOS and Android.
