First public Women Tech Iceland event on May 4th

Women Tech Iceland is hosting its first public meet up on May 4th. The event is hosted by Rannís, with TeqHire and Frumtak Ventures providing refreshments and co-organising the event.

“This event marks the first meetup and we thought it would be fun to do it on May the 4th (be with you!),” Paula Gould, principal at Frumtak Ventures and one of the organisers of Women Tech Iceland. She and Kathryn Gunnarsson, senior talent consultant at TeqHire, are organising the event.

Women Tech Iceland was born in January this year, when Paula put together a women in tech event when podcaster and serial entrepreneur Espree Devora was visitng the country.

“We talked through some of the challenges in the Icelandic community, one of which was the lack of communication flow between organizations. We left the event with the objective of starting first with a Facebook group where we could cross-post events and have discussions relevant to women in tech in Iceland,” says Paula. “The goal is to bring together organizations and initiatives whether academic, government or corporate, that intersect, support or are of interest to women in tech.”

The event will be this Thursday, May 4th, in Borgartún 30 – the headquarters of Rannís. The Women Tech Iceland Facebook group is accessible here.
