“The new brand accompanies a decision to focus more on global relations and cooperation on behalf of the Icelandic Startup Community,” says Salóme Guðmundsdóttir, CEO of Icelandic Startups. “From the very beginning we have emphasized international connections, but recently we’ve been initiating more international projects and focusing on building a bigger international network. The rebranding with a more international and describing name for our operations is a part of that work.”

The organization (while still Klak Innovit) has recently participated in projects aimed at making the Icelandic and Nordic startup scene more prevalent to outsiders, through initiatives like the #NordicMade and a trip to the US, where Salóme rung the opening bell of Nasdaq.

Icelandic Startups is the largest privately operated startup and entrepreneurship support organization in Iceland. Its role is to support entrepreneurs start their businesses, and startups grow. It has nine employees and a wide ranging network of mentors and volunteer contributors.

The new brand and accompanying new projects grouped into their focus categories of Idea, Growth and Community, will be announced and introduced at an event later today. More information on the event’s Facebook page.
